Dominikaner Kloster Leipzig

Spending a couple of days at the Dominikaner Kloster in Leipzig-Wahren to portray Priest Lucas Leonhard.

Before becoming a priest, he served as an official advisor to the President of Germany on matters of churches, religion, interfaith dialogue, and integration. Quite the vita, if you ask me!

Warm and friendly, Lucas welcomes me into the monastery, where I spend time observing its rhythms: light spilling through tall windows, casting shifting shadows along the stairwell of the living quarters.

The silence of the chapel broken only by the glow of stained glass; a simple garden where Lucas walks in meditation (he regularly offers meditation courses across Germany), or sits smiling in the shade of a tree.

Inside, a room filled with carefully built Lego cathedrals, a dining hall set for the priests, and a half-empty keg of Kölsch from the recent visit of the Cologne brothers. I spend my mornings watching another priest in his quiet ritual, meticulously tending to the sunflowers.
